Dragon Packaging has been registered with BRC since 2002 and we have consistently passed our year-on-year inspections, so much so that BRCGS recommended that for our 2024 audit we should opt for an unannounced inspection. We are very proud that a governing body such as BRCGS had every faith in our business being successful in completing their audit requirements.
Through great dedication and teamwork across the site, we achieved an AA+ grade, which is testament to the people we employ and empower.
The BRCGS packaging accreditation helps us as a business to demonstrate that we are providing our customers with products that are quality assured, legally compliant and authentic. This certification has become a global industry benchmark for all packaging suppliers across the supply chain.
What is the BRCGS?
BRC was founded in 1996 by retailers who wanted to harmonise food safety standards across the supply chain. Today, they are recognized globally across both food and non-food categories and operate the most rigorous third-party certification scheme of its type.
It was originally designed to assist retailers and brand owners to ensure they produced food products of consistent safety and quality and assisted with their ‘due diligence’, should they be subject to prosecution by the enforcement authorities.
However, in a short space of time, this Standard became invaluable to other organizations across the sector. It was and still is regarded as the benchmark for best practice in the food industry. This and its use outside the UK has seen it evolve into a Global Standard used not just to assess retail suppliers, but as a framework upon which many companies have based their supplier assessment programmes and manufacture of branded products.
Many UK and European retailers, and food manufacturers will only consider trading with suppliers who have gained certification to the appropriate BRC Global Standard.
